Hi, I'm Laurie Carlson - and I understand your struggle because I've lived it.

When I started out my career as a psychiatric nurse, I absorbed patients' trauma and carried it home. As a social worker, I felt responsible for my clients' pain and went above and beyond to help them.

I could tell what was going on - both what was said and what wasn't said - it never occurred to me that I didn't have to fix it. Even when my career moved into more traditional business environments I found myself overwhelmed and edgy much of the time.
